Customs Budget Low Rider

Why was it deleted?

 

The car in question had an unacceptable engine and fuel delivery system.

 

AKA HAMB over moderation................jeebus

 

My favorite shirt was in the picture, too.

 

I like low riders.. but see no point in 3 wheeling, hopping, or looking like a stink bug.

 

The culture is not for everyone, and that's ok.

 

So, what year did the hydraulics come into the popularity?

 

There are plenty of people that will dispute this. Many in the California Latino lowrider community say that the history has been "whitewashed", but that is a topic for a whole other board, and not appropriate to discuss here.

I live in California, and the oldest of the old lowriders always told me that aircraft surplus parts were first used, after they were liquidated by the military after WWII. Many airplane mechanics worked them into cars, having had experience working with them during the war.

As for what exact year, it would be hard to say.

I even alluded to the issue with it, in it.

I only wish they had left the hood on the car, but it had gotten damaged.

The only other pictures I have of that car are it under construction, or moving.

 

Gimpy, next time just make the offending item look like a redacted Govt paper! In other words, black it out!

 

Back in the 50-60’s you never left a pickup truck with a “Tommy Liftgate” parked outside at night. Or maybe once. Their trucks were stolen for the pumps.
But back then low riders cars didn’t dance or ride on 3 wheels. Many needed to do re-enforcements of suspension parts but the ones I knew used the hydraulics to go up and down drive ways and parking to look kool.
With new technology low riders evolved into what we can watch on YouTube driving Whittier Blvd and many other places. $100k+ is in a lot of their cars. And just sitting they a “work of art” especially with the engraving being done today.

I tried that, and now the screen on my laptop is all messed up.

 

I have a few customers that are in the process of fully engraved frames.

 

Still one of the coolest "beaters" on the HAMB. Great thread.

Today at work… just touching the ground.

 

Clean build but just make sure to remember to reinforce the frame in the long run or the frame will snap or buckle from the 3 wheeling

How and when the “low rider” scene came about.
Ive used this and a few others in class. The question comes up every now and then as I like to lower any and everything. Even both my sons baby strollers and current bus.
But, it’s one of many on the subject. Even the Smithsonian has covered it. Ethnic, geographical and even politics seems to play a part.
