got a 1946 running engine combo (well engine, rear end, front end and everything else from the running gear so to say brakes etc..) from a buick, might be able to get a rear end from a 1954 buick

they are all a closed drive line..

would it be an easy switch?, i mean i think the 54 would have a much better rear end ratio then the 46 if im not misstaken, it will be run in a buick convert 1940 to be specific... rather then restoring the rusted stuff in the 1940 i bought a complete running gear from a 1946 that the owner took out to have a 350 installed with a modern front end etc... (good deal as the engine is restored and all the brakes etc are also almost new...) so just have to drop it on the frame and have the convert running easy.. but wouldnt hurt with a better rear end ratio...

so anyhow should i get that 54 rear end or stick with the 46 rear end?

and is it a bolt on change?

ah well the rear end was ******ed before i had a change but anyhow would be nice to know, probally easier and cheaper then to find a rear end gear set
