Didnt find any Buick 1950 thread, so here we go. Post them all, kustoms, originals, yours, others, new photos and old photos. I start with some photos of my own 50 Super
I have multiple views of most of the cars I posted. Check this out, a 4 holer (Roadmaster) Jetback....
This was mine in the mid 90s and way in over my head, I got it running and let it go. Want some fun, look for an '50 Olds 98 2 dr fastback....
You may have pics of about all the 50 Buicks ever? I know some aren’t a fan of the grille but it is my favorite. That’s the part I like best about a 50.
These photos are from the last 10years or so, got a few more. I agree to that, the grille makes the whole car, also like these portholes best, like the grille only on the 1950s model. Got me an carmagazine when I were about 12, a satin black 50 Buick on the frontpage, havent got that front grille out of my head since
In the late sixties, I had a '50 Special Sedanette as a daily drive for a a couple of years. It was also a stick shift. I even drove it to Canada a couple of times on fishing trips to my in-laws place up there. It was one of my all-time favorite cars. Here's a little story I posted about it a few years ago : https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lasalle-packard-what-else.397519/page-2#post-4445883.
I agree on the grilles being awesome on these cars. One of my favorite Buicks. Here is one I had a few years back.
Hello, One day my wife saw this bright Purple Buick sedan sitting by the side of the road. As usual, she saw it first since it is a fairly narrow industrial road and there are always cars parked on both sides during the work week. On the weekend, it is a ghost town, but daily, full of customers and workers. When I saw it as we drove by, my first thought was …how did the Buick Sedan get to this spot? Immediately past the parking spot was a dip of big proportions causing most folks to almost crawl over/through the dip. The other direction leads to a different style of dip in the road for drainage and it is on a very tight place, too. So, the big purple Buick must have some type of hydraulic system to raise the sedan to pass those two street obstacles with nary a scratch. My hand would not fit under the side pipes when I made a fist for measurement comparisons. Or, time is spent going rock crawler, slowly and at an angle to clear the deep dips in the road. As long as there was no traffic, I was able to take some photos for comparison and marvel at someone actually driving a cool, custom car as a daily driver. All with a cool overall sight, chrome reversed rims, custom side lakes pipes and a lowered parallel stance. My wife was amazed at the custom color as we were actually talking about the latest in “ice” paints on new factory cars coming out of Europe. Here was an old custom car with a version of "satin finished paint" similar in looks to the latest “ice” paint applications. Jnaki A compare and contrasting appearance after several months from the first sighting. A tri-color accented paint makes for a “cooler” custom cruising down the PCH highway (skirts and all) on “Any Given Sunday…!” or in this case, a Saturday morning...YRMV
My stepdad had a few 50 Buicks, I remember the front seat was more comfortable than our couch. Great post, for sharing your photos.
