i just picked up my grandmas old buick. it a 77 regal with a 350 2 barrel. the thing only has 28K on it! the carb needs a good cleaning and a kit in it! i was thinking about putting a aluminum intake and a AFB 600 carb on it. do you think it would get better MPG? with a 4 barrel? i know it would run a little better. i'm not going to hot rod the **** out it. i'm just wondering if it would be worth it? or just keep it all stock.

If you drive it like a sane man (I know it's hard sometimes), a 4bbl should give you better mileage than the large base 2GC that's on it now. Peel out from every stopsign, and it'll drink gas like a big block. Is it a Buick 350? That was the vintage when GM started mixing and matching Buick/Chevy/Olds/Pontiac engines in their cars. There's nothing wrong with a Buick 350, but buying an aluminum intake for one is way more costly than for any of the other General Motors 350s.

The 2GC's are so simple, easy to rebuild, and reliable that I think you would be taking a giant step backwards. The aftermarket carbs are usually a bear to get a choke working right, and I've had better luck with the choke setup on Rochester 2 barrels than any other carb. My two cent's worth.
