I put a 1962 Buick 215 in the Austin Ruby and made an oil filter adaptor to fit between the frame rails. I haven't run it yet but in the meantime, I have picked up other smallblock Buick and British Rover parts. In one of those piles I ended up with this oil pump base/oil filter base. It points the element forward where I have lots of room but I do not know what engine or car it was installed on. This is shot of the 215 that has been bored to 300 and will be a replacement for the one in the car. The main identifiers are MCW ERC 0568 I don't believe that is a GM casting number and the Rover info is pretty sp****. Any Thoughts? This is the one in the car I would like to be able to change.
So I have found that this part was used from 1976 until 1994. At its best it's 32 year old wear part since it acts as the thrust for the oil pump gears. The cover gets scored and junked. It showed up on Rimmer Brothers as no longer available. I'll continue my search. SD1 seems to be a division of British Leland.
