Steve Wittman used a Olds engine with a 300 Buick crank (267ci) inverted with dry sump in his Tailwind, I love the sound of that thing! Here's a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsH-j4pF4fE&feature=channel_page
There is a conversion to use a Buick 300 crank that adds .6" stroke, 2.8">3.4", but the flange for the flywheel is a bit longer than the stock crank so there's a bit of customizing needed to make it work. Would the P76 crank work as a way to increase the stroke with out needing a special flywheel and rear seal/adapter?
Guys - Heres an old photo of my 215 Buick project, a MG Midget, stock 4 barrel even fits under the stock hood with 1.5" to spare. Had to modify a Rover starter cause they have the solenoid on the side to clear the frame rail. Also had to send to England for a racing Rover remote oil filter block-off plate cause stock the spin on filter sticks out the front at an angle and would be right in the front crossmember. Working on rebuilding the trans tunnel and firewall at the moment. Later Rick Wisconsin
Here is a picture of my Olds 215 in my 26 Model T sedan. I'm using a D&D adapter and a small bell housing 700R-4 out of a Chevy S10.
hotroddon. Then you added to a 4yr old DEAD thread eh ! 40yr old p76 v8 motor .fully polished block, heads, manifold and bellhousing. Not rod related obviously .My apologies.
And my first and only foray into overhead valve type of motors is smacked down ,followed by another twelve members ,BWAAAAHAAAAA .
i don't care if it is an old thread I looked at the 2x2 link posted, then browsed that web company and saw this. I am speechless.
I think Roger Pensky ran something like that on his Zerex Special Can-Am car circa 1964. IIRC GM gave him some motors and technology.
Rovers are very expensive to tune here in the uk, they also have some poor design in them, in my opinion the only good thing about them is their light weight.
Not up to your "Lucas" design standards? Which part isn't designed well? Rover bought the tooling about 50 years back and has been using it ever since, but still it's a poor design? Elaborate kind sir.
I'm working on a tr1800 POB stroker rod . Aluminum body Aluminum engine can you say light and funky looking. T2Vr
