I need help with my flywheel identification. I picked up what I think is a schiefer aluminum flywheel yesterday thinking I might be able to use it on my 425 nailhead but it is different. Can anyone tell me what it is suppose to fit? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It might be a '53-56 Buick flywheel. I have one of those, it has the Long style pressure plate bolt pattern too. I can't get to the back side to check numbers for you without moving a whole bunch of stuff. Out of curiosity, what doesn't fit the big Buick?
This thread mentions the Scheifer WO-360 as fitting a 401 nailhead: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/nailhead-flywheel-clutch-combo-question.660227/
Hi Bob, the center on the flywheel is too big for the crank or the crank center is too small for the flywheel. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Could the issue be dynaflow crank vs turbo 400 crank? Dynaflow have larger pilot in the crank hub than T400. Is your engine a 64-66 year, when T400 was the crank design? Sent from my SM-G950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
^^^ What he said. Check to see if the starter is going to work. If it does, then just machine up a ring to index the center. Neat old flywheel.
Since BchctyBob was asking me if we had made any progress on the Pontiac I thought we’d better show the 60 some love. Time to starting getting the engine painted and ****oned up. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
