Not looking for a how to but a why.

Other than the self energizing feature of these why do they work better than stock juice brakes?

If they are added what is the preffered way, with Ford backing plates or the whole Buick set up?

Are they wider than stock Ford? Does it make your front end any wider from outside wheel to wheel?

    Thanks.

Sorry i phrased the question wrong.

I know the drum gives you more area for the shoes to contact and in most set ups ( I think) you used the existing Ford shoe set up.

Can you convert the whole buick set up kinda like the F-100? Brakes shoes Wheels cylinder to the Ford spindle?

OK I found Rocky's post on mounting the buick set up on the Ford spindle.

If I have a set of Buick drums and backing plates and I rebuild it all, all I would need in the adaptor plate to mount the backong plate to the spindle and drill the Ford bolt holes in the backing plate.

    Got it.

The Ford hub would be needed to fit the spindle for bearing reasons then Yes???

Trying to get a handle on what it involved here.

  5. Dooley, someone had a post a wek or two ago on modifying ford backing plates to take Buick shoes and wheel cylinders - can't remember who it was though. A pretty nice solution I thought.
