buick drums

    has anyone used the buick drums with anything other than ford backing plates????:) thanks mike

    There are posts on this in the tech section.I was looking at them yesterday.A couple of different options to be considerd.

    a couple of years ago one of the magazines had an article that showed using the buick backing plate from the same car that the drums came from. don't know which mag, though, or any more information. i could prolly find the article, but it would probably take less time to figure it all out in real steel than it would to find the mag.

    i was just wondering i have a 30's dodge-plymouth round tube axle was wanting to use the finned buick drums on it is it possible???:)

    lomofo, I don't know about using the buick drums with the mopar spindles, but you can run early ford spindles on the mopar axle ( a bit of reaming is needed ). If you use '37-41 ford spindles, there is an adaptor/spacer available to allow you to use '59 or so Buick backing plates, then use 46-48 Ford hubs, and adapt them to the buick drums. It is do-able.
