Buick "moustache" repair

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by double nickel, Nov 13, 2007.

  1. Hey guys, I am looking for a cheap to moderatley cheap way to repair and refinish a cracked "moustache" on the front of a 52 buick roadmaster. I have two, one is cracked right in half and the other is 2/3 of the way through but still in one piece. Eastwood sell a pot metal repair kit and it may work but I am going to have to refinish it any way you cut it. This car is being put together on the cheap and I don't mind the scratched chrome bumpers for now but don't want that classic buick front end to be missing. Any ideas?:)

  2. Pleeeaaasseee help me guys:D

  3. I tried Eatwoods kit. Works ok as long as the part doesn't see any stress.

Send it up to us and I'll have my dad weld it up.

    Hey,

Are ya talkin' the two die cast/plated pieces that make up the upper grill? Die cast can be welded, but not without experance or opening
your walet. I would solder these pieces together with 50/50 and add
some steel tabs behind the crack wile soldering them together.
later, perhaps ya can find some intact pieces, as plating over repaired
die cast is always a crap shoot at best.
