I'm curious how much power I can get from a 401 Nailhead with 6 Stromberg 97's and headers. What other inexpensive things can I do to a 401 to get more power out of it. I'm looking for good power, somewhere in the 385 and up horsepower range. Is it possible to get 400 hp? Should I supercharge it, do they make Nailhead superchargers...although a supercharger wouldn't be cheap.... hmmmm...

Well I meant that Im definently going with the 6 97's and that is pretty much all the money I have for the motor. So I was asking what inexpensive things I can do after i put on the 97s.

  6. Well it doesn't cost much to pocket port one, I assuke tmat you are not rebuilding it, if so you can align bore or hone one pretty cheap ( some only need a little honeing as opposed to boring and some don't need it at all) that is good to free up a little torque. Yes you can get a blower manifold for a buick, or you can make your own in a pinch. Cam shafts are not really expensive in the whole scheme of things. Upgrading the ignition always helps as well and is not a costly mod.

Unless you arre a real tuner you will probably capture more zot with a single 4 then you will 6 dueces.

Remember this every time you begin a build, "speed costs money how fast do you want to go?"
