Projects Buick number 3

Funny you mention that. So, the z did work kind of. But the Buick arm is just not long enough to properly disengage the clutch. The fork decided to rapidly dis***emble itself, so after one time around the block the car is torn apart. It's easier to pull the motor than the trans, so I went that route. With the new additional length of the arm, I won't need a Z bar anymore. It was part of the trial-and-error part of building, I guess. Everyone puts an automatic in these cars anyways, so I am the weirdo wanting to row gears in a luxury car.

Didnt intrude, but it got hot enough to discolor the metal, so I had to junk that clutch. Once metal has blued its done for with a clutch is my experience.

Best I can tell, the TO bearing froze, and spun on the fork causing the fork to jump off the ball recess on the fork. Never seen one do this.

Finally drove around the block. Here she is after a few trips. Next step is exhaust. The extension I did on the clutch worked like a charm. But made the clutch a man’s clutch. The further pivot changed the mechanical advantage. Oh well. Overall impressions. Motor has a nice ammt of power. Everything’s functioning well. May need a brake adjustment. But all in all I’d call the test drive a success.

Bought some NOS smithy’s mufflers. Too cool not to share.







And the car had to sit out for a few days to work on OT kids car. But made the driveway in suburbia look cooler for a few nights.

 

Well. Sedan Sunday and maiden voyages.

dropped an ignition module 1/4 mile from house. Stranger pulled me home with a rope.

 

Did a little chrome polishing. Cleaning up pretty good inside.

 

Impromptu roadside car shows are the best kinda car shows. Cool car, cool thread...enjoying watching where this is going.
