anybody seen buick side trim on a 49-54 chevy? i'm thinking about trying it, but not sure if it will work due to the quarters. if you have pics or tips, they'd be a big help. thanks.

Personally, I feel that the look of the early Buick trim is a bit heavy for the Chevrolet.

The later trim is slimmer, and much better suited. The most famous example would be Watson's "Grapevine".

Here are a sample of pics I have collected over the years with Buick trim.

A friend and I held some 54 buick special side trim pieces up against a '54 Pontiac once and it looked like it would work but he never did anything with it. I might consider selling those pieces if you are interested. :) I think I have at least one complete set.

i'm pretty sure it's 53. not 100% on the exact years. i do think i might like the later style better. it seems to fit better.

Joe, I know you are into the 53-54 Chevys. But notice that all the pics that got posted on your thread are 49-52. I can't say that I've ever seen a 53-54 Chavy with Buick side trim. If you're looking at 53 Buick trim, I think you're right, the top edge of the trim might look odd with the bottom edge of the quarter bulge. Have you mocked up a trim line with some masking tape? You might also want to consider some 59 Pontiac trim? Bill

The first car has been shown on the ISCA cicut for years. The second one now resides in Lincoln Nebraska not far from 54Delray.

well hell, i know the guy that owns the second car. never even crossed my mind to look at his! his quarter panels have been heavily modified, though. they sit in a couple inches closer to the body (the bulge is basically no longer there, much smaller)

1959 Pontiac side trim would look better as it gives a "lighter" appearance.
