At least that's the case when your trans/driveshaft tunnel is smack dab between the driver and p***enger![emoji15]

I'm waiting for my dad to pull his 64 vette outta the shop. Then mine will come apart for some finishing and frame paint and plumbing. In the meantime I made an older style license plate frame/bracket out of aluminum tubing I had laying around. Just mocked up for the pic.

Had a chance to mess with my dash on the coupe. I was cleaning it up after cutting out the holes for the gauges. I actually liked the "brushed" look of the bare metal. I decided to shoot some clear on it and leave it as is. Figured I can always go back and paint it black which was the plan in the first place. It'll have the top model A dash rail piece in black. The only thing I'm not sold on is the gauge color with the bare metal look. Black faced gauges would look much better.
I machined all the aluminum trim pieces between the gauges and on the ends.

Going to blow the whole car apart in the next week and start heading towards the finish line ever so slowly.

I like it, but I agree about the color of the gauges. Be cheaper to paint than replace the gauges. Just my 2cts

Yeah, I think I'm going to mock the dash up with trim piece before I pull everything apart. It will be easiest to paint it when I have everything apart. That's for sure.

Had a couple hours to play around so I pulled everything apart. Body's off, engine/trans out, and frame is just a roller.
Going to start heading towards the finish line. It's a ways off but getting there.
Put a new oil pan and starter on. With this motor I have some challenges with the water pump and routing the cooling lines. This set up requires a remote pump. Because this is not HAMB appropriate I will leave it out. If anyone is curious or wants to know more, PM me.
The other pics are of fuel cell in place and belt harness anchor (below cell) mocked up. I will pull everything off the frame and weld the final pieces in place and then paint the frame and suspension components.

    That's a lot done in a few hours !!
Looks really good. Very creative, especially now I can see the whole ch***is together without the body. Fuel cell, great job.
That last shot, the ch***is looks like" where's my body?" Amazing job from what you started with to now.

    Thanks fellas!
It really is easy to dis***emble when you have the space and the right equipment. That gantry I made a long time ago with s**** material I had lying around. It has come in so handy. I can have the body and ch***is and engine all apart in about 30 minutes
Makes it so easy. Without it there is no way I could be where I am.

Been awhile since an update. Pulled everything apart. Body, ch***is, engine and all components are apart. Spent about 13-16hrs building a cooling system for the water pump. Then media blasted everything except the body and prepped it for primer. Primed most of it this evening. Here are the fast forward pics. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thanks Ty! Great time with you all last Friday at Sparks Speed Shop!

Here is where I left off Saturday. Just started plumbing the brakes. Ran out of a part I needed and stalled. Plus I had a party I had to attend.

I’ve been trying to peck away at this as time permits. I got it blasted and prepped and then shot it with epoxy primer. Body work will be underway. [IMG][IMG]

Thanks. There have just been so many little things that take a lot of time it feels like so little gets accomplished. I am very glad I keep making lists for myself. Has made all the difference in the world. Another **** sandwich was my old Miller auto darkening hood shot ****s and my back up (fix shade) had a broken head gear set so all my welding was a huge challenge and very slow going. Bought a new one that set me back $250. Worth it but shouldn’t have waited so long.
    Forging ahead though.
I’m also planning my top. I wanted it some sort of vinyl and wanted something sturdy as well. Based on a Jeep’s soft top I am using a jeep top channel for their soft top and that will provide a rigid front that won’t lift under high speed. You can see the channel sitting on top in last pic for an idea. [IMG]

Here’s how Hilton does his tops, I’m gonna copy it[emoji41]. Snaps on and off, also attached to the center bow.[IMG][IMG]

Mine will be similar only with the lip at the front so it can’t peel up. It will be identical to a jeep soft top. Snaps work like in your pics.

It is hard to tell, but the color is much greener that the pic suggests. It’s almost a pale olive gray. I’m very happy with the color. I may add some accent black in places but for now I’m good. It laid down very good. I am no body or paint person. First go around but I’m very happy with the results. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thanks. I really hope I can get a pic of the “real” color out in the sun. When I hold the phone pic next to the car there is no comparison. Anyway, i just am happy with the results. The color I was after is in the following pic. [IMG]

I’m thinking that with the amount of black and SS I have in the mix that things should balance out.

It is. Single stage. It’s a Mercedes Gray with something else added. It looks so much better than the pics.
It’s dark now. I just hope it looks like what I hope it’ll look like in the sun[emoji15]
If it doesn’t, **** it. I’ll re do it or just not give a ****.

I got a roadster sitting in wait.

Had to drop the body on and see it. I really wish I could get it out of the shop and in the sun. The light really make it look light. I’m happy with the results and will commence with wiring before too long. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
