I have a set of model a hairpins from socal and will be in possession of a 32 ford frame in the near future. Is there a difference in the model a hairpins compared to 32 style hairpins? Am I able to utilize the model a hairpins with this frame. Using a '35 ford ibeam 4" drop axle. Thanks in advance for an help! Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Pictures would help but I'd guess you can use your hairpins. They can be adjusted somewhat. We use a split Model A wishbone on our 32. The ends mount just under the frame side rail. It fits the Super Bell axle at the perch pins and the issue for us is getting the caster dialed it. Stock front cross member gave us a few degrees that wasn't enough. We finally set the caster at 10 degrees. Had to cut the bones a few inches behind the front mount, bend them up and re weld. In other words you might have to modify the hairpins and be aware just where you attach them on the frame rail........................
Maybe. That's a good question to ask SoCal. Yes but some welding might be required. The best answer may be that *nobody* knows for sure and you'll just have to mock up your ch***is to find out. FWIW, Pete & Jakes makes two different lengths of hairpins for '32 frames; one for highboys and one for cars with fenders. They might make two different A hairpins as well for the same reason. When we hot rodders interchange different year Ford parts and aftermarket parts from multiple sources, the different combinations increase exponentially.
