car looks great, but with the rounded lines of it, i wouldn't have '59 caddy tail lights.

Your project would give cardiac arrest to some of the guys over on the
    P-15 D-24 forum.

I love old Mopars and I like it.

    So sweet...

I think your car would look f'ing awesome in a deep maroon, or maybe a really dark blue? I'd run bias WWW's with full caps, and then if you want a change pull the skirts off and put a set of WWW Cheaters on chrome reverse wheels on it... I like the Ford engine too..

    looks great!
the '40 Desoto grille is for the coupe?
That will trick a lot of people...especially if you take the speedlines out of the fenders :)

I like the little break at the back of the roof. Got here too late to chime in on it, but glad you kept it. Kind of retains the flavor of the original, but improves it. What a beautiful car.

Looking great, and good work!!......the bead roll skirts are a MUST.....for sure don't loose the rolls in the fenders..that's what is so special about these plymouths!...what are your plans for the rear window now that its smaller?....lexan or a cut down piece from curved windshield of OT car?....also the photoshop looks like the hood has been tapered down in front...kinda needs to be as from early profile photo from outside of shop showed.....for a muscle car kid you're educating FAST....sure ol' dad has something to do with that,huh?....keep up the good work guys...this will be one of your treasured memories for years to come....I know 'cause my son and I built our last project together about 11 years ago and he has since passed on....GOOD MEMORIES and he's still part of the car today .

sorry guys, it's been a while. I am still alive, just been busy with a new job and school and stuff, so... unfortunately progress has been minimal. I'll be back on it soon so expect more pictures!

and thanks for the kind words!

Good to hear you're still alive! Now run to that garage and get to work!

  25. I did see it but what was the reason for the relief cuts along the rear fender top area?

there are a couple of reasons for that... it was kind of an unorthodox way to do things, but we slid the center portion of the body ahead to meet the new roofline in order to retain the shape of the roof. It will also create a different sort of shape at the back of the car.

it's hard to explain but you'll see what i mean as things progress.

    just as an update...

i traded away the Ford stroker engine that was going to power this here machine for a whole bunch of music equipment.

as far as a new engine goes, an sbc would be cheap and easy since it already has a camaro front sub, but... I think I'm going to look into a 413. I've always just thought they were cool for some reason, although I have zero experience with mopar power. I imagine they are quite a bit more expensive to build, but maybe worth it? I'm looking to make a minimum of 400 horsepower with either direction i go.

maybe someone with more experience than I could give me some advice on smallblock chevy vs. big block chrysler?

Very nice! '41 Plymouths have good lines, and chopping the top on one only makes them better- reminds me of the first model car I chopped- a '41 plymouth with a viper engine in it. Keep up the good work!

If you plan on a small block mopar you can use dodge truck motor mounts and truck rear sump oil pan that will fit in your gm sub frame. That is the same setup that I am using in my 40. If you search the web you can find stroker recipies for small block mopars. later shawn
