Great film, I never knew things were that automated in the 1930's. Just think, all those guys or their sons would later go off and win WWII.
it is surprising, it must have been state of the art in the day. it still required lots of guys. can't be many of them left.
Great post, reminds me of a tour of the GM plant in Hamilton Ontario I took in early 70's. Biggest building I'd ever seen, one half was running ch***is's and the other half had machines like this ****tered everywhere. My guide said that was the last model and the building always had half the current model running while half was being s****ped and reset for the next model change. It boggled my mind to think all those machines had suddenly become just so much junk.
Very cool. Looking at the industrial might we had even back then reminds me of the quote from Yamamoto ( spelling )who after his country's attack at Pearl Harbor said" I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant". I wonder what they were making at that plant in 1942 .
