Tomandjean, you should also check out these sites, if you haven't already: www.sweptline.org www.dodgesweptline.org Both have discussion forums with a TON of great tech info on those trucks.
Having played with SB MoPars for years, I can agree with most of what has been said already. One other reason the big port 360 heads dont always work as well on a 318 is that the bore shrouds the valves/chamber. Turn over your bare block with a set of 360 heads on a 318 - tell us what you see? Shrouding - which absolutelty kills flow/breathing. The other thing is that 2.02 valves on a 318 is a waste of time - unless your turning the "teen" over 7500 ?? In fact I've seen 1.88" valve 360s run 11's at the track, bacuse they werent turned harder than 6K and the combo was right. A good set of swirl port heads and a good hi rise dual plane intake will work great on a strong street 318. With 9.5:1 - 10.00:1 comp max (pump premium gas) with a cam of around 225-230 max duration @.050 hydrualic cam and a decent set of 1 5/8" headers will work very vell. Tri Y headers will maintain some low end TQ. Teens are great engines and spin hard. Just need to get it together right and pay attention to the small details. Rat
