run maxton first, its way closer to home for you and you will get more runs per dollar.
I have a Comp coupe without an engine right now,its set up for the big cadillac engine.
Its not for sale, but maybe if you had an engine we could run it together,i'm not a driver.

    Its been to B-ville and ran 186 with a 183inch 4 banger.
It ran 171 at maxton with a bone stock aurora 4 liter northstar in it.
    I live in gainesville fl.
My car is set up for a small driver.

Buying someone elses old car would be the fastest, cheapest way to go to Bonneville I would guess. Maybe not as satisfying. I built two Altered coups. Bought the roadster and updated it with a new cage and my motor. It's really a nicer car than I would have built from a start and much less expensive.

  3. Renting a ride is also an option. While not looked on very well with the SCTA, becoming a partner in an existing car with the potential of setting a 200+ record is, in my opinion, a viable option. Expect to spend 5-7K for such a ride, plus your driver equipment.

I saw in yesterdays San Jose Mercury News a story about some guy who bought Paul Latter's old streamliner. Very narrow. Very clean. Two 500 cubic inch Cads turbocharged. $20,000. Now that is a cheap 300+ car. Maybe 400.

  5. All good advice. I was considering building a car with a big cady engine. I have to say I am unsure I have the nerve to go that fast. I was out in my T for a shake down run up SR 11 from columbiana to Canfield. The car ran great and I got the speedo calibrated on this trip. The way back I was going a little more than 80 MPH and I dont think I want to go any faster even though the car can do it. Sadly I was much more fearless when I was 16. Now at 40 I am just not sure. Maybe it is the fact that it is an open car with no roll over protection..??
