Got a little more done.. I got most of the forward controls done, the brake petal is in, along with the master cyl And did a little tube work and got the steering wheel in And finally firgured out how to make the shifter work, just a long rod with two pivot points at each end. How do you like the rachet shifter? And this is what you'll be seeing when you look out the front..
I think you have miss ***led this thread. Most people BUILD a belly tank from one they find laying around, or one of my fibergl*** clones. You my friend are CREATING a belly tank from scratch, and that's a very different can of worms. Congradulations on doing a masterful job and letting us follow along.

Got to ruff in some of the areas that were neglected(sp), and the profile started to emerge.... The long reverse's were a bit of a challenge to get 'right', but I feel that they are pretty close to what I need. Even got the edges turned up a bit for the ****pit
So things have clamned down at the homestead.. I managed to get a little welding done. And had to get a lap top so I can post. But here's how the rear is shaping up to be. I decided to make it one piece, which is not very heavy at all. It's getting closer to being on the ground and a test drive!
Bear, Now that is one neat project ! Like the way that it is all scratch built from square one. Saved you the cost of one of those drop tanks. Very good project. What kind of banger will power it ?
the engine is out of a CHEVETTE! It's like 86 cubes! LOL. . Just saw the Rust Revival thread, they give me the OK, I'm going to haul it over there and hang out with the real hot rods!
(edit) ..when I said quick I meant you haven't f**** around building it, how on earth did you fit in all the "staring time"?* Thing is Bear it's fun driving anything flat out....it's all about the impression of speed , it just has to feel like it's going fast..... last year I did 160+ and told anyone who asked that it was kind of boring.......this year, at 193mph it wasn't very boring....that means I've got a few things to sort ...because we've still got a way to go....... Just quietly I've got a bet on that that motor ain't gonna be in your tank forever...salt fever is like fig trees , you can't kill it, it just keeps growing once it's taken root. good luck with the affliction. * staring time: the thousands of hours you spend staring at the project, with or without beer in hand, whether or not you have been banished to the shed....
Your pretty close, Doc... I will like to build a streamliner, something real serious, and light, for the electric speed record. The tanker here is just for fun.. LOL
