just kidding , hauled this frame home today from the paint shop after a coat of primer . you guys in warmer climates don't understand what we have to put up with here when building a car..even in heated shops the weather and snow becomes an obstacle to building original frame fully boxed , mounts for sbc/th350 , setup for vega steering box..yes, it's kinda street roddish with front and rear 4-bars, but i a got a great deal on them. i may kick up the rear crossmember a couple inches yet. hopefully this will under a full fendered `28 phonebooth cab pickup by spring..i have a 283 , th350 and an 8" rear ready for it
I moved from SoCal to Northeastern New Mexico last year . **** ,There's snow here !! What's up with that ? Does make it hard to work on stuff but not like Minnesota where everything is permafrost
I feel for ya, I just moved away from a ski town where I lived for 13 yrs to the desert. No snow yet!
I feel your pain man! i even pm'd you on the heater you had for sale but I better spend some bucks on insulation before i buy a heater I have a rough model a tudor sitting in Elko if you know where that is. that I still have to get home snow never helps the cause especially when its sittin in the snow looks like you have a good jump on a killer winter project! keep us posted
Snow ****s... You should see how people drive here during the first snow. They think is July.... About 2 AM there was a truck in my backyard... I'm not supposed to have trucks in my backyard..
I always think that I've got it pretty bad here in Boston, but when I see the stuff you guys out there deal with, man.... no way. I guess it ain't so bad here. No snow on the ground yet. I can't imagine what it must be like to live somewhere like San Diego. Summer all the time, never any snow, doesn't get cold, drive cool cars all year long with no issues.... Except that someday your state may fall into the ocean. Pete
Just imagine the test drives when its below zero! Makes it more fun. you dont get going very fast when the tires are always spinning, even when the car is sitting still!!
i would love to move back to mn anyday. at least people are gettin out your way one way or another down here in il if its flurries people are 15 to 20 under.. snow sure does make it hard to switch projects mid winter pullin in and out the garage
Donut City, baby! Bet that is a friggin' BALL to skate around in! can't exactly call it driving, right?
Hell i cant get to working on mine..I have to finish insulating my Shop first..dam its cold out there..motivation in this weather is very difficult for these sore bones. I feel for those Guys that dont have a Garage or work on a slab in their back yards or have a Tent built over their project..now thats dedication...Been there Done that..I refuse to feel that way ever again
I hate snow we got 5.5 inches here in Kewanee il.I gotta take my frame and body to my buddys shop so i can get some work done on it but the snow is makin it kinda hard to justify pullin it outta the garage.
Insulation? Hey, I've got 4 rolls of that to put up! Looks like I'll be starting sooner than I thought. It is too friggin cold out there. Good thing I closed up some of the barn while I was off last week. 2 more doors to fix and one to dig out. I think I'm going to hang some carpet remnants from the door frames to knock down a little more of it! Then windows in the peaks to keep the pigeons out. So cold it freezes before they can **** on Court's truck!
Cool picture of the "t" in the snow. Using that as my screensaver. By the way it's 32 celcius here today (90 fahrenheit) but then it's also summer.....
I keep seeing pics of the snow. I'm in the NW burbs of Minneapolis in St. Michael and I still see green gr*** in my backyard.
Yeah I know I still havent finished what I started..this time of year it is so difficult to get the time to do it throughout the week days..and it friggen gets dark out before i even get home whats up with that? I know what I will be doing early saturday morning..Gettin' it done so I can throw a match in that wood burner and get to figuring out how all this Welder Series stuff fits.
I'm headed to FL with the wife on Saturday. Hopefully it holds off until after we leave. I'm sure we'll come back to a blanket of the white stuff.
This is why I moved from Chicago.. That white stuff..and the cold.. Hell..I was getting chilled on the way home tonight in the roadster..it was still 60+.. But there was a breeze..
And yet we stay... must be the summers. If not for my heated garage, I'd be heading south in a hurry.
Yeah, all that snow looks like a real pain, then again you dont have to deal with the heat we do. I have had paint dry after it left the gun, yet before it hit the panel, and that was using VERY slow reducer. We all have our challenges, you pay your money and make your choices. I will admit that all that snow is a lot easier to capture on film that the oppressive heat we deal with. Thank god I have never had to shovel sunshine out of my driveway so I could go to work.
Looks like a fun build Greg. Do you have enough room? I could bring the van back and help you get rid of some stuff, I won't even charge you to take it off your hands.
