Evictions are what queered 3 roadsters, a coupe, and a few '32 frames for me. (Gennie frames, rear thing. 1957-1968. Married wrong, twice in a row!)
Third marriage (40 years) has been a blessing. She built my steel shop...

Last weekend, I threw a block party/car show to celebrate my upcoming 30th birthday. Hot rods, hot dogs and the best friends made it one for the books. IMG_0010.jpg
It was also the first time I've had 1.5 and 2.0 in the same space. At the start of the party, I had 2.0 nestled away in the garage. "What's it doing in there?" Yama asked. "Roll that thing outside!" So I did, which made for a fun photo-op.

Other than that, I've just been chipping away at my pre-fire up checklist. I'll be finalizing a few things on the radiator hoses this week, then it's just add fluids, check for leaks and see if it'll start. I'm hoping to give it a shot next week.
    IMG_3775.jpg
After scouring Andy Southard's Hot Rods of the '50s, I realized that the chrome radiator hoses were a no-brainer. When paired with thumb-screw clamps from @Hitchhiker, it certainly looks of the era.
    IMG_3779.jpg
Also, I was excited to receive my chrome e-brake in the mail. Does anyone have a good source for the actual e-brake cable?

That's all for now. Life has been extra busy, but I've been enjoying working on the car whenever I can.

Looking good! I would think e brake cable could be sourced from Napa just generic dorman / help kiosk type stuff.

cut the length and rock and roll etc

A citric acid bath will remove that rust and do no further damage to the chrome that's still solid.
For a cable any of the A restoration parts places. A real one would be nice.

There was no cable to that handle, just a solid rod. Can't remember, are you running hydraulics? If so, are the e-brakes still the same or is it a different system as well?

Hydraulic's are cable, but had the under-dash handle, I'm sure this setup has been done a thousand times.

    The rear cable goes from
Side to side and then there’s a yoke of sorts that cradles the middle of the cable pulling it back like a bow. This yoke has a clevis and conceivably could be put onto a rod that then connects to the handle joey has.

    that’s pretty much my plan.

I’ll see what the tardel “how to hot rod a model A” has on this tonight. It also supplies quite a lot of direct part numbers for sourcing. If ya havnt got a copy I reference mine quite a lot.

Edit. Yes my 46 had cable from the under dash handle to a fitting that held the end of it and then the clevis that connected to the yoke I previously mentioned.

So I guess there’s not really any reason he couldn’t make this all cable as well. But given the tight confines it makes more since to just run a little rod to me. Either way brother Joey needs some Cable.

Thanks, I've never done hydraulics on a Banjo, only mechanicals or a 9"

I'm running a rod to the cable, and yoke.

    Thanks,

  17. Joey, congratulations on your birthday. I hope that you have many more to come. I am 82 years old, and I am waiting for 83 in October. Just remember it is all mental. It is not how old you are, but how old you feel.

Well if I lived closer I would have dropped by and even shared a beer then have a coffee and a water to wind down before hitting the road...Its funny so many of us here can sure remember those days...BUT the ole Hotrod keeps me connected to them...

I was making a reference to the age post, time stamps on them are in my time zone. I often forget not everyone is on the west coast. :)

When I was a younger man, I could sleep 6/7 hours straight. Now I have to get up here and there for a, uh, drink of water;)

Nice to see you can have a nice outdoor gathering like that. We hear so many bad things about SF these days. Nice pictures, Happy Birthday Puppy!:)

Aging, is just mind over matter.....If you don't mind, then it doesn't matter.

There is a LOT more involved with aging than just lasting long enough to get old. All '31 Fords are the same age but they are not all in the same shape. We are sorta' the same. A lot of care & luck involved.

@J.Ukrop: Hey Joey, where do the 'no brainer' chrome radiator hoses come from?
