I'll give you my best advice on this. Contact Jim Collins, NHRA Southeast Division Tech Director and discuss this with him. You don't want to get the car built only to find out that the ch***is won't certify. Phone and Fax 757-686-2222 Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 PM to 10 PM or email jcollins@nhra.com
There are a couple of cars built in that style here in the midwest although they are actually more like long wheelbase altereds than front engine dragsters. I will see if I can find some photos for you. The recommendation to talk to Jim is a good one as he is one of the most experienced tech guys around and what you are planning falls outside the regular ch***is building guidelines. Roo
Thanks.Ive already called JC for updated rules on ch***is.Ive know JC for years and hes always been great about helping with new cars and any other tech questions. Yea I know it goes against somes ideas of front engine dragster, but i figure thats what lead to all stuff in drag racing inovation!
Give Frank Parks a call Neil and Parks race cars785 654 3440. He built a dragster just like the one you are talking about .
Here is a real nice front engine dragster that was just built. Check out my web site www.nostalgicracingdecals for pictures I just posted from a customer named Tom Barnhill who just built a front end dragster with a 331 ci Hemi and a 671 supercharger. Click on the menu ****on on the left side of the home page that says cool customer projects. There is a also a link to U-Tube where you can watch and listen to the first time Tom fired the engine up and it sounds really strong. He is sending me more details on who built the frame along with some other stuff. I know that Tom built the motor himself. Jim Hill
Sorry I forgot to add something to make the link work. God I love the inertnet if only I could figure out how to use all the gadgets. Try this link to the web site to view the front engine dragster pictures and U-Tube. http://www.nostalgicracingdecals.com Jimbo
