Building your own CDI ignition

for my Rutherford banger project I am faced with running a mag on the sidedrive not always ideal for a street motor but it has dawned on me that building my own CDI system (no injection ) may be the answer i could be made to resemble a mag and I could even build an oil pump into it useing VW gears all driven off the side drive
