Big Olds steering wheel, whitewalls and a little pinstriping on the deck!

  4. That steering wheel is worth a few dollars on fleabay BTW. Factory sport wheel fits every 70's Ford pretty much.

I'd update the ***le to have my name on it and drive the hell out of it. Keep the Tru-Spokes, they never go out of style. If you want to add a little kick, put some skinny whitewalls on. And if you must, a '59 Impala style steering wheel would look great.

I'm going out on a limb but, get rid of the gl*** replace with chainlink fence and ditch the seats and put a air mattress in...

or drive it how it is and not worry about the what people think...

  7. Air mattress? I will have to get a on board compressor for that big air bag - they all leak.

Smooth radiator hose's. Black plug wires and cap (paint the one you have). Old style air cleaner. Cal Custom (or no name) valve covers. The spinners on wires look like Ben Hur would have run them at the chariot races. Make the floor boards disappear- Blacked out steering column, foot pedals, add black carpet. Yes. narrow banded WW added to the wires would set it off. There are Art Deco styled gauges out there to retro you ride. She will become timeless, rather than dated. Good luck Jim!

Nothing wrong with being dated. I like to see the cars like that, which take me back to my childhood, going to NSRA shows with dad. That car would have been the poo in 1982,and I still like it. I ALWAYS hated those big ugly steering columns that everyone seemed to think they needed in the '80's though. A different column and steering wheel would satisfy me. I like the wheels and the interior.

Fat whites and some killer chrome hub caps. Steering wheel and colum are **** ugly and the interior would be great in ox blood tuck n roll and no cloth door inserts

I think the easiest way to update is send me the pink slip and address to pickup. And yes you are nuts, but we all are, that's why we do what we do!

That was consistently in my top three for years - especially in the scenes where it had '48 parking lights. It's still in my top ten; especially if there's a '49 Cadillac V8 in there.

  14. I can't believe (unless I missed it) no one said anything about the pedals. I'd change those and sell the wires in favor of steel wheels with caps and rings. Call it good. Call it yours.

Opps! I just re read everything and see a couple others said lose the pedals.

    I wouldn't change a thing. It's a beautiful car-just drive it.

  19. Hope he kept it the way it was. Then it'll be the traditional 80's look on the new H.A.M.B IV board.:D:D:D

That would be funnier if it didn't appear to be inevitable.

What really scares me is the possibility of a '90s revival: Instead of an underground show called "Billetproof" there will be one called "Tradproof" and you'll need teal paint, pink crayon graphics, and 15-inch Boyd wheels to get in.

    Where's that puking smiley?

Different wheels, I always like Torque Thrusts and a steering wheel, other than that drive and enjoy the car. You can update it as it needs repaired...

I,ll take the wheels and...the steering wheel ..........all this has happend before I used to buy all the axels ........CHEAP

  25. That car is cool like it is. Pull that emblem off the aircleaner. Black plug wires & a good detail is all that car needs.

Avoid the temptation to tear into it until you've had it awhile and really know what you like or don't like about the car.

"Billet free is good enough for me" is your new motto.

    Keep the wheels...

I agree, New steering wheel, and I like 18-20" wheels and tires......but those are definately nontraditional.

TO THE GUYS RECOMMENDING USING OLDER STEERING WHEELS.....Are there adapters to fit the old ford steering wheels to the GM style used in the aftermarket columns like in this car? If so where do you get them???
