Stuff with batting and jute pieces, then lay out in the 95 degree sun really helped

I didn't realize (until a buddy verbalized it yesterday) that edge welting on seams actually serves to keep the seam straight without the wobbles/puckers I have. My original idea was to do a top-stitch, but the tightness of my curve made that prohibitive. I'll probably try to use a hair dryer and more batting to smooth it out more this winter.

As a learning experience and advice to all who decide to do their own vinyl upholstery, make sure to design your seat foam shape as to NOT have tight curves and/or intersections of 2 thick seams.
I designed body armor and soldier-borne gear for 5 years, that's where I learned to use a walking foot sewing machine - that top scorner was the most difficult thing I've ever sewn. I owe that to bad design/lack of seat making experience.

  3. I am so impressed by your abilities! I could NEVER do that.

Here’s an example of seam edge welting that was done on my old roadster.
Hard to see the top corner, but if you squint, maybe. Still has some pucker on the bottom cushion.

And, the OPS can really be bitchy, and I don't mean bitchin'. LOL Oh, the body does sit about an inch above the gas tank, Your Brookville is a perfect repop of the Henry bods ! This should start some shit ! LOL again.

I drive a Brookville highboy roadster and in all the builds I've seen on HAMB, NO ONE ever closed the gap between the fuel tank and body. It's a natural "bodily function" !

I’ve seen it done several times here and elsewhere. And done it myself, in a build here on the hamb. It’s a known issue and very common to correct.

Congrats on pretty much getting this one wrapped up. Good looking car!

I am insanely tired of seeing black wheels with blackwall tires and just a center cap. At least what you have going on now is something different.

:) I live in New England and white-walls are oh too common. Black on black with a cap would probably be viewed as new and fresh, or as weird.

I've been laid up with covid so no progress recently. I have an appointment on August 5th with the state police inspector to get a VIN number. Looks like I'm going to have to bonsai next weekend to install some of the required things I don't yet have (front turn signals, working horn, seat belts and an electric windshield wiper on the driver side. I've been doing a lot of online shopping while in bed, may have to just install the stuff to get through the inspection and then do a better job later.

I just got two new side mirrors from Vintique (The ones I had on there provided limited visibility)... Chopped one on the left and a standard length for the right.
I know that ultimately it doesn't matter, but does the bullet-shaped portion go above the stick or hang below the stick? Guys who have these will know what I'm talking about.

I also have a few options for front turn signals (which I unfortunately have to have to get a VIN number in New Hampshire).

The first is somewhat old school looking and fits in with the theme, but it's larger...
    PXL_20240728_161028425.jpg
The second is a little too modern for my taste, but is much smaller...
    PXL_20240728_160854391.jpg
My idea was that if I did the first option, I'd put it somewhere conspicuous, if I did the second option, I try to hide it a little bit.

    Thoughts?

I'm thinking that some of these positions are not conspicuous enough... there's really no rules for where they have to be, but if I'm putting them on there, might as well make them be able to be seen by head on traffic at an intersection.
    Here's some ideas for placement...

Ask if a canister air horn is legal, that is my plan.

That's funny... I already had planned for an a ooga horn. My kids love those. I already have a complete horn button circuit including the horn button, and a relay on my fuse panel. Should be pretty short work to get that hooked up- I'm just going to use black cloth tape and tape the wires down to my windshield frame... This thing will be wholly temporary.
Would be pretty funny though if I showed up with one of those air horns and a battery-powered snowmobile windshield wiper clipped to the windshield. :p

The blinkahs look good just behind spreader bar inboard of frame and that'll keep the DMV happy. Nice Van's, been wearing those since high school (BMXer)
One day we will run into each other

  22. Can you hang the turn signal pod from the lower part of the headlight bucket, or inside edge of the bucket? (Where it doesn't conflict with the headlight reflector, of course).

I know you have an appointment coming up...just put ANYTHING on there temporarily to get through the inspection, and then do the final setup later. I did that for backup lights on my OT Camaro, just bolted them to the rear bumper until I got the real thing done. No clue what the rules are on the size of the lights, so go big. Maybe a set of magnetic brake/turn lights like you'd put on the back of a car you are flat-towing?

Will your roaster be titled as 1932 or other?

A "Street Rod Registration" is the only way to run open wheels in NH. Not sure what it will be titled as. The upcoming inspection gets me a VIN.
One of the requirements for a street rod registration is that you must have front and rear turn signals no specification on what size, shape, placement etc.. Seems like a lot is left to the discretion of the State Trooper inspector (AEI).

On my coupe I built a little L bracket out of aluminum that had a hole for the stud out the bottom of the headlight bucket.
