    Today is a big day!
I am fully compliant with New Hampshire standards for a street rod registration... I got everything all wired up today.
The cheesy motorcycle turn signals actually look pretty good and are nice and bright. The ooga horn is loud as hell (scared the bowels out of my mom's Boston terrier). The windshield wiper is cheesy as hell, but it works and will be super easy to remove after the inspection.
Now, it's time to drink beer, go to a concert and enjoy the rest of my weekend. The inspection is tomorrow morning at 10:30.

These things are apparently magical unicorns- the manager of the DMV office didn't even know these plates existed and he had to dig around and back to find one. From what I understand, they've one of these besides mine in the past 2 years.

  10. Not surprised at that. Had the same issue here when I did mine. Beautiful weather today so you should be racking up some new legal miles.

Last night, I took the seat glides and the spacers I had out from between the seat and the floor... The seat is now effectively sitting on the floor.
This is a major improvement, I can now look through the windshield (I'm 6'6") !

As I want to spend as much time driving it as possible before the weather goes away (summer is short in New Hampshire), I made quickie panels out of black foam core from the dollar store to cover the inside of the corner panels and behind the seat- foil of the Kilmat was pretty ugly

I also found my favorite new cleaning product. It get's the clear coat super clean and puts a nice sheen on the satin clear.

Anyone have any ideas for a material to make quickie floor mats with? I tried carpetrunner stuff from home Depot, but as soon as it warms up from the engine heat, it gets really super noodly and wads up. PXL_20240813_194836845.jpg

  14. I used walk off mats from ocean states and cut them to fit. Seem to be ok.

    3ft. x 5ft. anti-fatigue mat, cut to what I needed. HRP

  17. If you have any interest in a nice pebble grain rubber mat, see if Lowe’s still carries this. About 3/16” thick, cuts easily with a sharp utility knife and easy to clean. I saved it for my 32 roadster when I traded off the sedan body for it.

  18. I don't have a pair to take a picture. Very early '70's MoPar (I'm picturing C-bodys. The large cars) front fender mounted turn signal indicators, are small, streamlined, inconspicouis and could be had in body color or chrome.

With the seat on the floor you might want to experiment with spacers under the front mounts. Can make a huge difference to comfort.

I need new floor mats for my deuce pickup and I finally settled on a 4X6 ft 3/16 thick mat from a company called ZORO. I had the old mats for a pattern and I was able to cut it with my super large scissors. Before I laid the mat I added some Dyna Mat to the floor. The mat laid down nice and flat and I used some of the 2 inch super strength Velcro along the outside edges to hold it down. So far So good.

Looking to make carpeted floor mats with a bound edge. trying to find some material to make the carpet stiffer and not slip around. Mats like these:

Mine. Fixings are almost invisible on the surface. Dunno what they're called. There's a spikey ring poked through the top surface which locks into the snap. Simple stud in the floor. Great fun getting them aligned when installing! 20240815_163657.jpg

Yep, square weave, German square weave, box weave (as it's typically called in the uk).
