    Hello H.A.M.Bers!
I have started laying out my next project, I am attempting to build an exact reproduction of my Grandfather's '29 A-V8 roadster. He had purchased the car in the early '50s and had a full race 296 stroker Merc flatie built for it. I ***ume from the photos that I have that the car was built post war, 1946-47. I have some of the original parts from the roadster like the complete dash ***embly and the ultra rare 4 duce intake made by Shnell Automotive here in Portland and managed to find most of the other rare or odd ball parts that I don't have, except for the bumper which brings me to the point of this post. The front bumper that he ran on this car is unique and I don't believe that it was something he made due to it's quality, so I ***ume that it is an original from another car but I cannot determine what it is from.
    What is this bumper from?

You'll just have to get a copy of The OCW "Catalog of early Automobiles 1892-1942"
and start looking. I think that is a stock bumper for a 1920s car and it may be a rear one made like that to clear the spare tire.

Looks like a '29 bumper that has been bent to shape.

    Maybe late-20s Lincoln components?

There were some bumpers like that discussed on Ahoogah a few months ago...I think they were shown on a fleet of A deliveries. Try just scrolling back through the last few months, as the board isn't very large.

I have thought about it possibly being late '20s era Lincoln bumper rails that were cut down and modified to work with the stock (or close) bumper brackets.

    Burt,

The board that you mention in your post, what site is that on? (not familier with it)

  9. If you compare the Lincoln bumper with the ones in your A pic the bends have different radius's, so although close I don't think they are. Id also ask over at ahooga.com, I was a member for a while when I was building my old 28 RPU. That place is like the HAMB for A model's.
May have been a dress item?
