I finally got the paint good, I was color sanding with 1000 grit with a DA and when I went to buff I noticed this on the top edge of the quarter panel. Any way to fix this or do I shoot the whole panel again?

Maybe it's my eyes but, I don't see where the paint problem is.

your going to ether try sanding a small area and do a touch up or respray the whole panel. HRP

Like Hotrodprimer said you might be able to get away with a touch up but probably have to repaint the panel. Looks like you have gone through the primer as well so that will also need to be resprayed. You might get away with just doing the top of the panel with that edge right there. Google soft edge masking. You have to be very careful when colour sanding and buffing on corners and edges the paint is a lot thinner in those areas.

  7. I’d reshoot the panel.
    Base clear or single stage?
Why color sand with 1000 on a DA. That’s aggressive for paint especially on body lines or near edges.
I’ve used 1000 on paint when sanding clear for a show car, but used a paint stick. A DA is too aggressive on body lines or on an edge.
I will use 3000 on a DA but still avoid sharp edges.
Wen buffing a car with lots of body lines, I will tape off sharp edges/body lines. Sand and buff the flat areas, then polish any issues along body lines.

I was using a da because I had lots of orange peel, I was going to try to tape the edge and just shoot the top of the fender and try to feather sand the clear on the edge? If that sounds do able? It's base clear paint. Everything else on the fender looks like gl*** that's why it hurts so much

  9. It’s possible to burn in or blend that.
I will set up a blend by sanding with 1000.
Maybe use 800 on the area for color, 1000 -1500 the clear area. Spray the color. Then the clear. The clear gets over reduced in the last coats or blend area. There is a product designed to “melt” the clear into the blend area. But I’ve seen over reduced clear used.
In the long run, it’s easier to blend the color and completely clear the panel.

  10. He said he prepped the clear BLEND area with 5000. I don’t go that high. But we use to use the heavy compound with a scuff pad. Several different ways to do it. The area has to be “de-glossed” and the clear “melted or burnt” into the existing clear.
some guys will over reduce the “blending clear” 90%. The guy in this video used a spray can blending agent. Standard operating procedure in a shop.
