well guys i have come across a 61 gmc 6 cyclinder side step pickup. And a 67 chevy s-10 with small v-8 any info on what to look at when going to work a deal on these and any info on the trucks maybe .....will have pics very soon!
We've got a 67 C-10, it was in good shape when we got it, but saw many others before buying this one that were in bad shape. They tend to rust out around the cab supports at the front and rear of the cab, the rockers, and the rear corners of the bodies. They have a trailing arm rear suspension with coil springs. The trailing arms can rust out and can be dangerous. If the truck is from Texas you probably don't have the rust problems we have up north. Also check the front suspension, control arm bushings, ball joints and the steering arms, they wear out over the years. They had drum brakes all around and manual steering, front discs and power steering didn't happen for another couple of years. Ours was undercoated which saved the body and the guy greased all the fittings regularly which looked like a dirty mess, but the consistent greasing kept the suspension and steering parts from wearing. Let me know if I can provide more info. Heres a picture of ours. Red
You should check out www.67-72chevytrucks.com they have info over there for both types of trucks you are talking about.
lfor the 67 look real close at the windshield and rain gutters as they tend to rust ALOT also water runs down insude the winshield posts also the kick panels tend to get clogged with debris from the vents and rust out// its very difficult finding a solid 67-72 chevy truck cab /
