In my quest for finding and rebuilding a t86 with OD for my 57 ford, I acquired a rebuildable trans that was in a 57 out west. I also acquired a newer t86 with od locally for a very good price. the trans I got locally looks like a 1965 trans and is different internally. Input shaft is larger and a few other details. I think overall the trans was shorter but otherwise probably a perfectly usable trans as is. Pretty much bought it for the OD parts alone. here’s my question… the over drove solenoid and the flange it bolts to is different. Different compared to my 57 trans and different then solenoids iv seen advertised for sale… why and what did it come from? solenoid has a “dented” top and the mount boss on the trans is elevated. And if memory serves me I don’t think the bolt holes lines up either My other trans is all rebuilt and installed in the car. So I’m just curious now because I’ve herd “all the overdrives are the same”
also, it looks like this one, which suggests Ford applications from 1962-66 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174538029397
Are you certain that top is dented,,,,it kind of look’s formed like that ? Like it was stamped sloped in that area for clearance near something? Tommy
