c-4 bell housing

i have a hairline crack in the bell housing on my c-4 on the bottom bolt hole, on the part that bolts to the trans pump not the engine. it is about 2 inches long. can i do what the drummers do by drilling a small hole at the end of the crack? the bell housing i need is hard to find in my area.
