Hey new to forum. I have a question regarding the shift linkage to a c4 from stock 56 ford column. I was wondering how everyone set it up. Pic would be helpful if available.

You will need an extra detent at the shifter column. The C4 has 6, the Ford-O had 5. When I replace my Ford-O with a Cruise-O I also needed 6. I shortened the link at the trans which you can do with the link posted above but I also had to extend the arm on the column. I made one that slid onto the original with the same size hole for the grommet and was long enough to put a 1/4 -20 cap screw and washers thru the original grommet hole. This gave a little adjustment and still cleared the exhaust manifold. I’ve got a photo somewhere.
The indicator on the dash now has a spot on either side of the “D” where you could add a little 3 on one side and a 2 on the other using “L” for 1. The Cruise-O is different using a white and green dot.
If you want you could get a piece of Lexington or plexigl*** and make a new indicator. Heres mine. I also had to the sharpen the detents on my column behind the turn signal unit to hold “park” better. DO NOT TRUST IT. ALWAYS USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BD09D176-8FB4-45FD-ABED-88BA2BBC4C5B.jpeg

jimmy six, I'm ***uming your shift lever is in park. I've seen the picture of your extension you mentioned. I started working on mine today and that picture and your write up about it was my inspiration. Thanks for posting

Yes it was in park. Not sure on any other year but our columns are around 60 years old and eventho it was in told to the new owners of automatic transmissions to pull the shift lever towards the steering wheel to shift many didn’t follow instructions to well. Mosts Parks do not have a good detent anymore but if you’re careful it’s easy to unscrew the turn signal apparatus and lean it out of its location a file them a little sharper. My lever from the shifter was the part warn the worst. Good luck
