    I did search.

In drive, my trans won't shift. It's a C4 from a 77 lincoln versaiiles. It has a gennie shifter, and i can manually go from 1 to 2 but if i put it in drive, it will not shift. Vacuum lines are hooked up, too.

    Ideas?

As the English say, "CHECK THE GOVERNOR"! If the vacuum is present at vacuum modulator and the modulator doesn't piss transmission oil then I would go directly to the governor. Sounds like it might be stuck or broken weight.

How is your reverse. Does it go in quickly or slowly or at all. High and reverse use the same clutch pack to apply. Was good advice to check for oil in modulator valve line . Also and I have seen it before make sure the pushrod is in there as well.

    Fixed.

There was a little metal bb like thing stuck in the line, replace the rubber segments for good measure and all is well

Call Flat O Matic and ask for Gene Benson at (503) 364-2934 Mon-Fri. He told the problems with the C4 shifing and the Gennie shift setup. I don't remember right now what the problem was. I had the same thing on my 29 sedan.
