1952-59 Ford c4 to flatty

So you guys that have done the c4 to flatty swap how happy are you with it and how was it to do? I went on a long trip last weekend about 130 miles each way on turnpike and the old 2 speed ford o matic just wasnt happy howling the whole way. Worst part was not being able to keep up with my buddies ,they thankfully slowed down for me, but I know they wanted to tear it up a little . what am i in for since I have never done this before thanks guys oh by the way I have a stock rear and my flatty is a pretty stock 52 and 6volt

 

A C4 conversion will do nothing for you. Both transmissions are 1 to 1 in top gear. You need a different rear ratio, or an overdrive.

 

So I would be better off changing out to a 8 or 9 inch rear end ?

 

Or instead of the C4 use an AOD that has overdrive the conversion kits are "almost" the same,the best donor AOD is 1988-93's as they are non-computer and have the later upgrades to be reliable.

 

I just put a C4 in my 53, I dont know the gear ratio of the rear end. I wish I had done a aod it is definitely not a highway cruiser.
