Customs C4 Transmissions •

    Trying to find out info on C4 Transmissions so I can tell the tranny guy what mine is and pos. year. I have two cars with c4 Transmissions. I know there are some that are alum. mine areAny help would be awesome.

    Honestly, I would think a good transmission guy could tell by looking at yours.

  3. All the C4s were aluminum with a removable bellhousing, anything with a iron case will be a Fordomatic/FMX. A non-removable bell makes it a C6. There's case-fill and pan-fill versions but those aren't year-specific so much as model specific. Now, Ford used a 'standard' parts numbering system for years that makes year identification easy, and can even tell you what it came out of. Look here:

    If you have to tell your tranny guy what model and year it is, find another tranny guy.
