Pitstop in kingcity. So far, so good.

  2. Oh man, so sorry, just saw this...we are literally 3 mins from where you got off Hwy 17 in Campbell...and spent all day wrenching on the Pontiac outside.

Best of luck on your journey.

We pulled into our driveway about an hour ago. No real issues to speak up, but I did notice some more mickey-mouse stuff. Will post some pictures later in the morning.

No worries, it all worked out.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words Dave and all of your help. There is no way for us to express how grateful we are for all that you did.

well, I've been tinkering with the car a bit and have noticed a few more 'questionable repairs.'

The most baffling one I noticed last night on the drive home. Soon after we talked to Dave the last time, the oil light starting flashing. I looked at the aftermarket gauges and they were still reading the same, but I was still nervous, so I pulled over to check the oil. I knew the dipstick was on front of the engine on the drivers side, but I could not find it. I got under the car to look and realized it was under the alternator. I pulled it out, wiped it off, and tried to put it back in. It turns out that the previous owner had bent the dipstick tube to get it to fit under the alternator and bent it so much that the dipstick would not go back in...

    Thanks Dave.
I'm sure I will enjoy it once I get past the initial shock of what needs to be done to make it a safe, reliable driver.

One of my friends just put up a steering setup for sale for a great price. We have double check to see if it will work (we have to figure out what is interchangeable), but after a quick glance, I think it will.

    How much is " a great price " ?
Looking @ the pic....The centerlink and pitman arm are all you need to convert yours to manual steering.
Maybe you should rebuild the box and swap it for the unit in the car. ( there is no adjustment left )
This raises several more questions....to swap the box , you have to dissasemble the steering coloum. ( what a pain..)
Have you looked at a rack & pinion kit yet ? Even then, you will have to mess with the coloum, most likley replace it..
    Decisions, decisions...LOL
For now, I would swap the centerlink and pitman arm..And start saving your lunch money for a rack & pinion conversion...The rest of the front end is aftermarket goodies, so why not make it all "trick "..

I just sent you a PM.

I looked at some rack and pinions kits. The one most of the guys are using is $2300!

    http://www.churchboysracing.com/62-67-rackpinion-conversion/

Lots of guys are upgrading by selling off there CPP kits and buying the church boys conversion.

I found some other ones for around $1000, but I don't think they include a column. It also makes me a little nervous that I don't know of any other guys out there using them.
