Anyone using them? I see a need in certain area's, but then grommet's also. I'm using both........You?
They appear to be made of plastic, which if there are no sharp edges, a grommet would not be necessary. I ***ume cable gland fittings are used for wiring homes and other buildings. They seem rather bulky for automotive use.
Agreed. In my electrical background they were mainly used to terminate a cord (like S,SJ, SO) into a conduit box. I’ve seen them on boats used to terminate the flat wiring (marine rated fine stranded cable, looks like non metallic house cable like romex). I’ve got a little sample box around but the only time I used one on a car was a buddy’s street rod. It had a flat cable to a black box to control the column shift indicator. I needed to get it thru the firewall and used a flat version one with a little putty as a seal. Put it on the inside under the dash where you couldn’t see it. Otherwise on a cable bundle just a simple rubber grommet of the right size.
I like grommets with the cable gland type funnel thing. Trim to length. Provides an amount of sealing and strain relief. Chris
