I have a 1960 390 caddy motor that I will be installing the tri power on. I don't know if I have all the pieces yet as it has not arrived yet. My question is if anyone has installed one of these setups, is the old distributer ok to use or is there a different one? Is there a vacuum canister that i need? It is a tri power off of a 390 with the linkage. Last, are they hard to set up? I am a rooky at this. Any help would be great. Merry Christmas to all. George.

    CD,

12/24/07 Tri-power Distributors are different ! The window for adjusting the points is in a different place ( Tri-power caps are different than 4bl or 2x4 caps ) ! I think that you can grind off a spot on the manifold and rotate the Distribitor in order to use it !

12/26/07 After taking time to think and remember , I think that the vacuum advance interfers with the manifold ! It might clear by rotating 45 degrees ( clockwise )and moving the plug wires over ( counter clockwise ) one position !

I will try to compare a stock ( 4bl ) distribitor with a tri-power distribitor when I return home from the Holidays !

    Good Luck,
    Sonny
