a friend said i may have a stuck or broken ring, casing a raw gas smell and oil to come from the oil fill tube, but i did a compression test and had 125-135 psi in seven cylinders and 0 in 1. the dead one had a stuck valve and bent pushrod , it had sat a while. i put in a new lifter and pushrod, and worked the valve till i got it moving. i thought i had it , but now i think the valve is not seating all the way. think it will free up more if i run it a bit ? i put a quart of marvel in the oil. mike

i got the same motor with a stuck valve. i tapped the valve down and it goes half way. then i pry it up a little bit and it came back seated. I bent a push rod too. I changed the stock push rods to a stronger one. (sealed power) and now im going to see if i can "rebrake" the motor. if this dont work. then im going to rebuild the whole motor. but im hopping it will. Im going to add some marvel oil in my gas. 2 oz for 5 gallons. and spray a little down the intake manifold to try to free up that valve stem.

let me know how yours turn out.
