I recently aquired what was supposed to be a 500 inch caddy engine for my 1963 f100, but it turns out to be a 425 inch motor instead.Anyone have any opinions on the 425, should I use it or not?

Less than half the power of the 472 and 500 engines. A generic/stock type sbc will make more power and be cheaper to build. I wouldn't want to sink a ton of money into a 425, but that's just me. What's the intended use for this engine?

I'd sell it if you can and pick up a 472 or 500. They're are alot stronger , can be found in running condtion on the cheap and there are plenty of go fast parts out there for them

Thanks for the input I intend to use it for a wild driver.Didnt really think it would make the power I wanted, but I'm just want something a little different,I have a 351 cleveland and a flathead but I was hoping for something unordinary for a F100
