I recently stumbled onto a Cadillac motor and trans (with a spare 4bbl intake and a dual quad). The previous owner said I could have it all if I'd haul them off. Lucky me?
Looks like an early Caddy OHV with a 4 speed Hydro to me - they're in great shape, complete, and the motor turns over. Part of the bell housing is cast into the block. The block casting number is 1460704.
I have an idea it's a 331 but I couldn't find any internet info on Caddy casting numbers prior to about 1963. Maybe someone here can help me identify this motor?
    Thanks

If it has an extended bellhousing that is part of the block, it's a 49 - 54 engine. This would be a 331.

Does it still have the starter or generator on it? If so, check to see if they are 6 or 12 volt. Not sure when Caddys went to 12 volt, but the 54 Caddy that my 331 came out of had 12 volt electrics.

By the way....Yeah, this is a lucky find, especially if it turns over.
