Is there a way to do this with Autozone parts. A guy on ebay frequently sells them and they gof for about $50 a pop, but I suspect it's just an off the shelf part.

Anyone know off the top of their heads how that works.

I'd be interested to know myself as I just picked up one to run on my 390 Caddy mill

just use the top part of the cad unit and one of those big chrome topped paper element jobbies from whatever parts store you shop at. lay the chrome top section on the bottom of the cad piece and scribe a line around it and cut the bottom out so the complete chrome/paper unit slips inside. make a few tabs around the bottom to keep the bottom of the chrome unit flush with the bottom of the cad piece. cut the hole so the element gets as close to the front of the cad unit as possible, so there's plenty of air circulation around the paper element.

  5. I used Fram CA3492 with a flat 14 inch chrome base, the dropped base dropped the air cleaner right down onto my distributor. Now this was without using a carb spacer, if you are using a spacer it will probably fit with the dropped base.
K&N also makes a filter E-3699 that you can use.

Thanks you, that's what I was looking for.

The guy on ebay says no alteration of the original oil bath parts are needed, except taking the oil bath element out.

  7. It's tight but it fits, try to clean out all the old oil residue inside the air cleaner too.

i found one with a flat bottom and it cleared the stock 350 distributor on my truck. i think you can order the bottom separately.
