Alfred, that Lincoln you've pictured happens to be at least a 1960 model cuz that's when they first came out...made that body style thru 1968...I'd guess that's a mid-60's you've shot there... As for the Caddy guy that wants to build a g***er...if you feel like a 'rebel", or feel like you want to piss off a lot of people at car events, then go for it...but may I suggest you stand next to the above Lincoln at the next show you're both at and listen to the "words of praise"...if there are any and let that help you decide if you want to ruin a Cadillac... Besides, once you put a straight axle under it, someone will want to pay you a lot less for it should you decide to sell it cuz you're tired of getting **** over what you've done to it...!!! R-
I reallly hate g***ers, so it's a DEFINATE NO in my vote for straight-up ruining a beautiful car. The simple thought of doing that makes you unworthy of the car as it sits, regardless of it's condition
And on the rear bumper it reads, "My other car is a RAT ROD"! Some people have too much time on their hands, too little brains in thier heads, and no respect in thier hearts for what this site is all about....
Holy ****! I want that car..... To drop it back into the weeds with some white walls, dog dish stock caps and a tuxedo paint/interior. They havent ruined it to the fullest extent. Hopefully it can be brought back to life with the right touch. Those cars are timeless but what that guy and what you are thinking about doing to the caddy is blasphemy, just put down the wrench, hand the caddy over to me and everything will be ok.
Oh man! the Lincoln would easily make a blind person puke his guts!!! That is sooooo wrong! As for the caddy i also vote no! Regardless of boring, as someone else said, caddies should be low w/ nothin more than interior and a paintjob!!! After that anything else is irrelevant...... ...and if it has to be any other way, it better be good, cause if it aint its only goin to be the next car ruined by someone tring to be "different". Just my 0.2
Yes do it. I want to see it. Also, feel free to cut the roof off. Man, how could I have missed this thread.
Unlike a small Chevy or Pontiac of the same vintage, the 5000lb Caddy, not to mention longer wheelbase car, would look, well, dumb, set up like a g***er. But then, if that's what you want and have your heart on, who are we to say DON'T DO IT! The Front suspension of that car was sweet for the day and ahead of many other cheaper cars, that were actually used for drag racing. I can't really see a gain in going through the trouble and time (and $$$$) to do this type of operation, for the sake of being different. I guess you have to ask, what are trying to achieve by wanting (or even suggesting the thought)?
I would. It's your car, do what you want with it. If you want to please everybody get a Camaro, paint it blue, and then I'm not gonna like it.
maybee you could sell me that caddy , buy a smaller gm car like 50's vintage olds 88, chevy or ... I live in Ohio PM me if for sale
Here is another NO vote! Check out the 1990 movie called "Havana" with Robert Redford and drool over the silver Caddy he drives around in pre-Castro Cuba (1959).
Hopefully you got enough negative attention from this post that will satisfy you and keep you from killing a caddy. BTW i will also mention the safety factor. There wasn't a straight axle designed to handle that kinda weight that I know of. So consider that before putting some junkyard econoline axle under that beast.
Only if you then take the bumper bullets off and wear them like fake ***s every time you drive it. Tell people you're the original Drag Queen.
Actually, there was,but I'm not going to say what straight axle works because I don't want to see a Caddy ruined
