    Hi all
I'm chasing some technical information re a Caddy 365 distributor. My brother in law's distributor seems to have failed, and it seems there are no alternatives, modern or otherwise. Mallory used to do a model ZC303, but that is no longer available. There was also a W & H Ducoil model D22D, also unavailable. Is there any alternative, or is there a model available I do not know about? Can something be converted (at low cost of course)?? There are thousands of 365s still around, and surely somebody has come across this problem and dealt with it successfully. I don't think he is bothered about period correct, it is about starting and DRIVING without a hitch. All replies, wisdom and information will be gratefully accepted. BTW, I have checked through the HAMB, and that's where I got the Mallory/Ducoil info.
    regards
    Greg

Yeah a pertronix ignitor works great in the stock distributer. If the whole thing is shot, and you cannot find a stock replacement, they are making those new Joe Hunts with the HEI deal inside.

    they're pricey.

It would have to be pretty well shot or broken before someone like GMC Bubba couldn't rebuild it. Then it could be upgraded at the same time. I'd give that a whirl before installing something exotic that may be even more of a head ache in the future but have a high lookie loo factor.

Definitely recommend using the stock distributor. Either rebuilt as stock or with a pertronix kit. Call gmc bubba and he can set that thing up no problem. I've run stock, Mallory and pertronix and have had good luck with them all.

There would be no problem in rebuilding and making the one you have like new. Some good parts and your on the road for many miles. We do a ton of these old units and they have proven to be very reliable....
Cost ??? 100 to 250 depending on how bad it is........ usually 100 plus...
