Wrenchbender and I decided we have too much time on our hands, so we are going to team up on a FED.

I'll be doing the engine, a blown, mechanical injected, Caddy flathead.

I'll let Randy update you on the FED progress, and I'll keep you updated on the engine build. This will be a slow build, as we are still busy working on the FlatCad.

The engine HP target is 400 HP to start, and we'll gradually build up from there.

We'll be using a lot of HAMB made parts. Cast timing and valley covers by Fiftyv8, 4 carb 4-71 adapter by flatheadkid1,solid lifters by Keeper, and the cast blower intake by Collin Sugart.

Yes it is true buddy and I are bored and have nothing better to do than to build another race car lol this build will be rather slow but stay tuned cause this is gonna be fun plans are in the works and chassis work will begin real soon I already have gathered up some parts and have been fabbing up stuff to get started so far I already have a narrowed 8 3/4 Chrysler rear a reversed corvair steering box a 40 ford axle with split wishbones a pair of 19" wire wheels for the front a pair of magnesium wheels for the rear a sweet butterfly steering wheel that mark our crew chief on the flatcad donated to the cause chassis style will be similar to a chassis research TE-440 will it be an exact replica no but it will be as I see fit the engine will be a flathead caddy that buddy is in charge of lol he is the caddy guy and I am the chassis guy lol one more thing this car will be a stick shift no autos here lol nothing like dumping the clutch and seeing the tires smoke lol, of course if buddy drives he may need a shifting lesson or two lol anyhow stay tuned I will be posting pics and such as the build progresses

Hey Buddy I have a nice original 1958 Chassis Research Dragster for sale. The heavy main frame rail will hold the Caddy nicely.

Haha! If we did that, the guys would lose on on giving me crap about shifting!

Just a 'play on words' Carl.;)

At the end of the day, the car will be called whatever Wrenchbender wants- that's just what I'm calling it for now.

Great another reason to sit my ass in front of this computer instead of working on my car:D , Interesting choice for a chassis type, are you going to add some tubeing over your head like mine and Dimitri's or keep the old style look, I added mine to protect what little brains I have left:eek:, Should be a pretty cool build,,,, Tim Jones

I'm gonna build a 100" wb k-88 style chassis and plans are for a 3-spd Chevy Trans cause I have a couple plus I already have a scattershield that will mate up to it

Now you're just being mean! Lol!:D

This will be a 'home garage' type build, nothing like the FlatCad.

Hipo reground cam, solid lifters, light porting, with port matched intake and exhaust, and a converted Chevy magneto. We'll re-drill and tap the heads for modern plug. I'm going to show everyone how to get ponies out of these on an average build budget.

We'll use an adapter to a Ford FE flywheel and pressure plate, and a Chevy clutch disc, and a Ford FE to Chevy bellhousing, with a Ford hi-yorque mini starter.

Very cool im running lassalle side shift with 2nd and 3rd the tail is converted to early ford and im running a narrowed banjo. The motor has a harmons and collins regrind cam, lots of porting, a mallory dual point dist. and a fabbed intake and exhaust im still undecided on heads I have the edmunds but ive been thinking of running a new set. The chassis will be a stumpy drag master style but garage built.

Thanks Travis! I only wish I had a little bit of your fab skills! You rock! We're gonna need some exhaust like you have!

Sounds cool! Please post some pics up here-I'd really like to see that intake and exhaust!

I almost bought the Crosley, but the FlatCad was taking up too much of my money!

Are you running a single carb, or duals?
