  2. Buddy, is there a rough price on those pieces? One that can be made public? If not, let me know and I'll PM you.

Peddro, last I knew, the tri-power was $150, and the intake was $650, but you may be able to negotiate.

I know he sold 1 tripower today, and is negiotating on an intake, but he should have at least 1 each left.

The tripower is made to sit on a 4-71 blower.

    So, I've been thinking-I know, that's scary!

The FlatCad is an all out race engine, and we'll soon have numbers on it. I've been wondering what kind of performance a guy could get using speed parts that are now becoming available for Caddy flatheads.

I'm going to build the engine, running parts from www.flatcaddy.com, and Collins blower intake and tri-power, and see what it will do at Bonneville!

Buddy, are rods available? or are they worth changing in your opinion? I have to bore to clean my cylinders at least 8 thou, so I have to decide how much to over bore while I'm going in there anyways.

I really hope Dennis and Collin has some 4-71 manifolds left. I need to order mine.

you going to reverse cool this other caddy as well? or just external pump?

Rarely are new rods needed, and the stock ones are very strong. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you are planning on a real HP beast!
I would have them magnafluxed, them peened and polished, for strength.

Last I knew (2 weeks ago) Collin had 1 intake left. If he doesn't, I can probably work a deal with him to send you mine, and he could replace it later.

Yep-I like the reverse cooling. The exhaust is right next to the intake, and that exhaust will try and heat the intake-not a good deal.

Keep us informed on your build! What are you running for heads?

    stock right now.

maybe by the time the car runs/drives it will be different but for now stock. I'd love a set of sweet billet alum heads but my bank account balance says otherwise.

Once the machinist gets the cam bearings set I'm going to send the cam out and have it ground.

I need to get a set of the solid lifters.

Measure the stock ones and order higher pound valve springs

I'm going to take a blower drive for a SBC that uses the BBC seal and bore it on my lathe and have the machinist final hone it to the crank and rebroach it.

I'm hoping with Fiftyv8's cast cover I can fit a BBC seal in it.

speaking of that I need to order the timing and valley covers, but I think last time I talked to him he ran out.

man I'm a day late dollar short right now haha

I did get my throttle bodies mounted to the 4-71 with a little waterjet plate I drew up. I'm going to redo my dizzy once again for a 1x cam sensor and mount a 24x ls1 crank sensor on the crank. So the engine's final form will be coil on plug and fully programmable via an ls1 9411 computer. some will hate it, some will love it.

my fuel will go in under the blower manifold like this hemi...

anyone have info on this dizzy tower?

it was on the flatcad that had twin turbos that sold here on the HAMB.

since I don't really need a dizzy for my setup I been thinking about machining a new tower that is super low profile and uses sealed bearings and I'll tap and plug the oil ports in the block.

If a external wet sump pump wasnt so high $$ I'd just run that and ditch the whole tower and unreliable idler gear.

got my stock springs measured out. I charted all the data and fit a line so I can figure out the stock rate. I get about 260#/in on these worn out springs. At the installed height of 1.921" we were getting ~58 pounds...supposed to be 66. Not terrible I suppose. We brought the pressure up to 80# and measured height, and then coil bound it and measured height.

now the debate is whether to buy stock replacements and shim them to 80# on the seat, or get something with a higher rate.

    summit has these...
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-903-1/

which would work but require spacers as well. Increase rate to 293#/in. Not real sure if its worth it though. It would increase open pressure by ~12-15#.

I think you'll want to go to stiffer springs. When Garry ran his roadster with a blown stock Caddy last year, he had a hard time building over 4-5 lbs boost, as he didn't have enough spring!

    that settles that.

for everyone who doesn't understand the size of these engines...this is my block next to a late model gm ls3.

Well I've never casted before. I know I can make a good usable pattern so I will start with getting that done then see about the casting process.

While I was talking to Collin the other day he said he'd help me out as much as he could so that's a little confidence haha.

  23. Did that on mg phone and it didn't know the word DYNO! You get the idea of what I was saying. Just watch the videos.

does anyone have any advise on removing the bolts(huge flat heads) that hold the crank weights on? I think they are staked on with pins?

the machinist has decided the only way he feels he can get them off is to drill the heads and worry about the left over studs once the weights are off.

I need to get my blower rebuilt and pruned. I got the manifold from Collin yesterday, sure is beautiful.

all my block is almost done. Need to figure out if getting it ported is going to be feasible or not. Then it will be time to start my own thread to mark progress of getting it back together.

If you do end up doing it, let me know. I can put it on www.Flatcaddy.com for you to help you sell a few.

I'm going to do it in a few weeks.

How successful will it be I'm not sure. I know I can get a good pattern. Its the actual casting part that scares me.

progress. got the blower all fixed up, just need to time it.

also got a good start on the pattern. After beating most the big dents out with a 2x4 and a mall I cut the pan to wedge the sides for more draft. Then I added some wooden standoffs to set my thickness and lathered it up in close to a gallon of bondo. Just getting everything straight right now. I will round everything off and add the fins next weekend hopefully. Add back in the oil drain "bodyline" then build the flange around it.
