Steve, the inside of the lifter bodies are different. There is an edge, that the lifter goes dowe and rides against. In the 1948 ones, the lip is not nearly as far down as the older ones. My guess is, the solids that will work in the older bodies may not work without mods in the '48 ones. I could measure the difference, but i think it is probably 1/2" or so. Also, the inside top rim of the 48's are beveled more.

Look what a little birdy just dropped off at my buddy's doorstep. If you are wondering what the bright light is ...it is the gleam on my smile because I am ear to ear.

It is mine, I made a website for his company (http://www.compturbo.com)and this is how he repaid me, pretty damn cool if you ask me. He is also having his polishers polish it up for me.

  7. Can any one give me the body height of the lifter and the tappet dia. and the body dia? Use a mic or good calipers to check. I might have an idea.

    would love a dual intake,
but also am considering a homebuilt log manifold.

(although i'd love a front mount blower or hilborn-style injection!)
    (yeah I repeat myself!!)

  13. there is no reason the to reinvent the wheel. Several different flat heads used solid lifters that may only need the tappet turned to match the cad dia. I am putting dodge lifters in a packard inline right now. They are surplus and are new in the box.

Travis, those are wicked ass headers! I wish I had that talent

Here are the pics I've been promising of the Burrell 2x2. Dick York did the carbs, and I think he did a helluva job!!! Many thanks, Dick!

As soon as the tri-power is finished, I'll post pics.

This Burrell setup is for sale. Contact ,me if interested

    Travis,

You should post pics of that tranny adapter, and maybe add the thread link here. That was a pretty cool build.

Has anyone tried the electric water pumps? I've decided to try one, and configure it for reverse circultion.

Any feedback on reverse circulation-pro or con?

Russ posted a pic of one of those intakes, but I've never seen the exhaust before. This is out of a boat?

I did see a dual turbo setup by a fellow HAMBber, and I'm hoping he'll post pics.

Looks like there is enough meat on that intake to level off that carb.

  23. Steve, would you happen to have any pics of the distributor off this motor?

I've got what I believe to be a marine dizzy, but haven't seen another one since I got it a few years ago. It's massive compared to a stock delco-remy dizzy.

Yup , here are some pics of distributors with tack drives , they were used on military , industrial and marine ....... and most of distrib's were mechanical advance for those applications like this one .........so if this is not what you are looking for , show me pics of yours we all would like to see all this oddball stuff ................... I gotta show you guys this one !!! I have been taking lots of pics of everything with the new camra . I figured I would do a comparison of flathead parts ...... to the left , flathead Ford and to the right , flathead Cadillac ................ You be the judge ! , lol ......... Steve

  26. Steve, this is the distributor I have. Closest I've come to seeing anything similar is a tiny photo of a Cad motor with braided spark plug leads and 90degree ends that screw on to the cap.

He is what I have dizzy wise.
If the tank engines are made from better quality material, how about the marine engines then?

Seems I can not find the extra pic's, which I will post later when I find them.

I've posted here that I'm working on a tri-power, I'm actually working on two. One is simply modifying a 1936 manifold, and that's for my use, because I've got specific plans for that, like um.. a blower adapter, similar to what Aaron did with the Burrell.
The other one is an aluminum log style manifold. I figure that I might as well cut enough extra to make 3 additional manifolds. It's not much more work when the pattern is made, to cut enough for four, instead of one.
    Any interest out there?

Therefore, the Burrell setup I posted pics of earlier is for sale. Contact me if interested.

Keeper and I are both going to run a solid cam and lifters, with a Winfield grind (1a). 286 degree , .355 lift.

    What are everyone else's plans?
