    hi there,
hopefully this should be a pretty simple one, i'm hoping to get my 331 and hydramatic mounted in my A-ch***is sometime soon, but all the cadillac hydramatic mounts i see pictures of on various websites dont look right my trans?
can somebody tell me exactly what mount i need?? maybe post a link?
i dont want to ship a part all the way to the UK and its wrong....i've been there before!
here's the transmission , and from underneath the mount area....the two holes are 10.5cm apart.....

thanks for any guidance on this...

Thanks Ray, I suppose that's one way to solve it, but I was hoping to buy the correct rubber pad, then build a crossmember to suit.....
I'm presuming that's how it would mount originally??
    Cheers,

I have a 1947 cad hydramatic here I just removed last week, I will check and see if the mount is that style and still in good condition later tonight.

Weren't Hydros fitted with a pair of side mounts at rear of engine where transmission bolts up and another single mount under the harmonic balancer? However mine didn't have the rear mounting provision either.

i did a search about 10 minutes ago and was just gonna post what i found.....
which was what you've just posted Stumpy!....
it seems like thats what i need to do, I have the Hurst style front engine mounts that sit quite far forward, so i reckon i should pay attention to those instructions, make some bellhousing mounts, and forget the tailshaft thing....
thanks dude, interesting & helpful stuff!

i always have to laugh when i tell about the muffler clamp we put on the tailshaft of the b/m hydrostick with two holes in a 1in square cross member ....just so we could go to vannuys blvd that nite.....worked so good was on there for over 20yrs...allowed the frame to twist lol

ther is a company seller complete kits with mounts will lookit up........

Mine is set up the same way as the OP, the engine has side mounts and the trans has the tail shaft mount. I have to get a picture, but the mount bolts to the trans tail shaft and does mount to a crossmember. There are no mounts to the bellhousing. This is a very long trans, I couldnt imagine it hanging like that in the car. These are the engine mounts, conventional side mount.

the rubber mount sits in a metal cage which bolts to the tailshaft. the rubber mount then bolts to the crossmember.

I think I have a spare you can have ? I'll look for it this am.

  14. Check with Steve Langs 32 roadster build in the UK NSRA site on how he mounted his Hydro. Although his is behind a 394 olds I believe the trans mounting was very similar.
