Am about to pull the 41 side shift trans out of my roadster for a rebuild. Bought a syncronizer ***embly off eBay and the br*** rings are steel on this one. Could it be a later part or aftermarket race part? Anyone had experience with steel syncronizer rings? They’d do look identical to the original br*** rings. Sure would appreciate any experienced input as I have to pull the engine to get the trans out.

Are you absolutely sure they're steel and not just plated so they are silvery coloured?
    Check with a magnet.

Are you sure they are not aluminum?

Paul nailed it. Aluminum. ***embly must have been recently bead blasted as they had the same color and texture as the steel components. Checked them with a magnet and file. Sorry I can’t figure out how to post photo. Are the aluminum some aftermarket replacement? This site is amazing with 70-80 year old information still out there. Thanks everyone

Don't quote me but I think bronze was early and aluminum was later.
I have found them both in various years of Cadillac but only aluminum in the '50 Olds I've opened up
